For furniture that sees a lot of use, you need a fabric with a rub count at the higher end. Polyester (including recycled velvet) is an excellent choice - a durable and attractive fabric suitable for sofa covers and reupholstery. Choose woven, not printed, patterns for better wear over time.

You don't have to choose between quality and aesthetic. As well as beautiful polyesters, you can consider polyester-cotton blends. Good quality fabrics maintain their looks and resist fraying, despite frequent use. They're also suitable for sofa covers or reupholstery.

Sofa cover and reupholstery fabrics are available in 100% Cotton, as well as cotton-rich blends that add extra durability, stain resistance, stretch and longevity to the mix. Choose fabrics with a high rub count - at Plumbs, this will be at least 20,000 but probably more.
