From all the Plumb family, we extend our thanks for the warm messages received on the passing of Plumbs’ founder, chairman, and our much loved family member, Geoffrey George Plumb.
Geoffwas a remarkably kind man, who was truly at the heart of the Plumbs community. He was involved in the business from the age of seven, when he first joinedhis parentson their Lancashire market stall. It was here that he would discover a passion for sales, and the experience helped to spark the natural entrepreneurial spirit that would benefit him later in his life. Following his education, marriage and the arrival of his children,Geoffreturned to the family market stall, and using new stretch fabric from America, createdthe national sofa cover company we know today. In addition to our stretch covers and curtains,he also introduced the first range of continental quilts to the UK in the early 1960s, alongside a variety of other home furnishing accessories. In more recent years he took great joy in seeing his children and grandchildren continue the expansion of Plumbs with projects of their own. Alongside life at Plumbs, Geoff committed much of his time to family and charitable endeavours both locally and abroad. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy that we are incredibly proud to uphold.
